Private by design.
Cartridge Hours is built so your setup and listening history stay yours. This policy explains, plainly, what stays on your device, the small amount of data others handle, and what we never do.
Last updated: [08.14.2026]
What stays on your device
Everything about your setup lives on your iPhone: your turntables, tonearms, cartridges, and styli, their photos, your listening sessions and hours, maintenance records, the ratings you enter, and your notes. This information is stored locally on your device.
We do not run a server, and your data is never uploaded to us. We — the developer — cannot see your setup, your photos, or your listening history.
iCloud sync
If you use iCloud, Cartridge Hours keeps your data in sync across your own Apple devices through your private iCloud database, tied to your Apple ID and handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to it. You can turn iCloud off for Cartridge Hours in your device settings, and your data will remain only on that device.
Purchases
Cartridge Hours uses RevenueCat to manage purchases and unlocks (including any offered in future updates). While the RevenueCat component is active, it may receive a randomly generated identifier, purchase history, and basic device information (such as device model, operating system, and country) to confirm what you've unlocked. It does not receive your setup, listening history, or photos. Payments are processed by Apple under Apple's own policies; we never receive your payment details.
RevenueCat's handling is governed by the RevenueCat Privacy Policy. Apple's handling is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.
Photos
When you add a photo of a cartridge, Cartridge Hours only accesses the specific images you choose through the system photo picker. Those images are stored with your data on your device (and your private iCloud, if enabled). They are not sent to us.
Notifications & Live Activity
Replacement reminders and the on-screen listening timer (Live Activity) are created and shown on your device. No reminder or timer data leaves your iPhone to reach us.
What we don't do
-
No accounts. You never create a login to use Cartridge Hours.
-
No ads, and no advertising SDKs.
-
No selling or sharing of your information for marketing.
-
No profiling of you, your gear, or your listening.
Your choices & rights
Because your data lives on your device and in your private iCloud, you control it directly. You can edit or delete any entry, turn off iCloud sync, or remove all data by deleting the app and its iCloud data.
Depending on where you live (for example, under GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, and to object to certain processing. For the limited purchase data described above, contact us and we will help, or you can contact Apple or RevenueCat directly.
Children
Cartridge Hours is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the date above. Significant changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
