Your data & privacy

Where is my data stored?

On your iPhone. Your pairs, photos, sessions, and notes live on your device, and — if you turn on iCloud — sync privately across your own Apple devices. There's no account and no server, so we can't see your data.

Is it safe for a young dancer to use?

Yes. Pointe Pair requires no account, asks for no personal details, and shows no ads. Everything stays on the device.

Rotation & drying

How does "Ready" vs "Drying" work?

After you wear a pair, it's marked as drying for a window you set (default 24 hours, adjustable). When the window passes, it returns to Ready automatically. The Today screen suggests the pair that's Ready and least-recently worn, so no pair is worn two days running.

Can I change the drying time?

Yes — set the drying window in Settings (12–48 hours) to match your climate and how quickly your shoes dry.

Logging & sessions

How do I log a class or rehearsal?

Tap "Start session" on Today, or add a session from the Log. Choose the type (class, rehearsal, performance, fitting), the duration, and the pair(s) used.

I wore two pairs in one class — how do I record that?

Select every pair used during the session; Pointe Pair divides the session time evenly across them automatically.

Can I start from the Lock Screen?

Yes. A widget starts today's pair in one tap, and a Live Activity keeps the running session on your Lock Screen.

Fitting, hours & cost

Which size systems can I use?

Any — enter size and width exactly as your maker uses them (EU, UK, US, or a maker's own system). Pointe Pair keeps what you type, since every brand differs.

What is "rated-life reference"?

An optional number you enter (for example, a maker's expected hours). Pointe Pair shows your usage against it as a personal reference. It never judges whether a shoe is safe to dance in — that decision belongs to you, your teacher, and your fitter.

How is cost per hour worked out?

From the purchase price you enter divided by the hours logged on that pair. Cost per session is shown too, so you can see which pairs earn their place.

Sharing

How do I share a report with my fitter or teacher?

Open a pair and choose Share to generate a clean report with the fitting profile, usage, economics, and left/right condition notes — useful to bring to a fitting appointment.
